We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with 5-8 years of experience to help mature our software systems and engineering practices. This is a critical hire to guide our technical direction, improve scalability, and mentor a growing team. You will be instrumental in establishing best practices for code quality, system design, and deployment processes as we scale.

What will you be doing?

• Serve as a hands-on technical leader, contributing primarily to backend development while guiding the team on system architecture and design.
• Leverage your experience to improve code quality, manage technical debt, and implement scalable software practices.
• Work extensively with backend systems and columnar/OLAP databases like Clickhouse.
• Mentor junior engineers and help foster a culture of technical excellence and maturity within the engineering organization.
• Collaborate with the founding team to make key decisions on scalability and system reliability.

What we are looking for 

5 -​ 8 years of experience in fullstack or backend engineering at top tier companies (VC-​backed or FAANG)

Work experience

Experience at known,​ top tech companies either tier 1 VC-​backed or FAANG

Currently an individual contributor (IC)

Skills

Experience with an OLAP or columnar database (e.​g.​,​ ClickHouse)

Experience designing and building scalable backend systems

Experience mentoring others

Schedule

5 days a week on site in SF,​ avoid candidates not currently in SF unless they explicitly expressed interest in moving here
